Save the Earth by Shopping!
Louboutins in a Landfill? NO WAY!!
We recycle cans and bottles, use eco-friendly household products, drive electric cars, yet so many fashion conscious women toss last year’s designer duds without a second thought. It's been reported that shoppers spend as much as $288 billion on luxury goods and only 30 percent of those items get worn the following year. Louboutins in a landfill… No Way!
Textiles represent a mind boggling 386 million pounds of garbage each year in NYC landfills alone. Some country-wide stats say the national number is closer to 11 million tons (that's TONS people... not pounds. And in case you're wondering, there are 2,000 lbs/ton!).
Part of the solution?... Consignment.
Consignment is the ultimate sustainable concept and Michael’s, The Consignment Shop for Women has been doing it for sixty plus years. Long before recycling was en vogue.
Consignment continues to be an "everyone wins" kind of business. When it comes to Earth Day, consignment makes sure that women get the most value from their luxury fashions and landfills aren't overloaded. Instead of finding their way to landfills, we find new homes for high-end fashion items. As always, we make sure that each and every item is handpicked by our experienced merchandisers for authenticity and pristine quality. Many items we see have never been worn! That’s what we call fashionable recycling! This April, in honor of Earth Day, take a minute and go through your closet. We've outlined how to get organized for consigning here.
And, bonus, next time you head to the store, just remind yourself that by shopping (consignment only, of course), you're actually helping to SAVE the environment!
